DLC Coalition Launches Lehigh Valley Mutual Aid Effort!!

Updated: Mar 17, 2021

Lafayette Mutual Aid (LMA) is a collective of BIPOC students and alumni dedicated to building people’s power and amplifying shared access to housing, food, material, and financial resources for BIPOC folks at Lafayette College and in the Lehigh Valley. Lafayette Mutual Aid aims to provide a decentralized but cohesive BIPOC community support system to coordinate and connect mutual aid efforts on College Hill and beyond.

LMA , DLC Coalition's constituent, was launched in the fall of 2020, and they practice mutual aid without the involvement state and institutional power, functioning by depending on community solidarity. Through collaboration with Sheesh, a community organization for women and nonbinary folx, we were able to raise over $6,800+ to distribute to BIPOC community members in the Lehigh Valley. As of Feb. 24, 2021, we have received over 30+ request for funding amounting to over $16,000 and have distributed over $6,000 to BIPOC folks residing in North Hampton County. LMA continues to seek donations to meet people's need and the form will close this week to begin raising additional support.
